End of September

Hi everyone. It has been a little while since Lorraine and I last updated the blog, but the delay allows this blog to be very large. Well, let's go ahead and start with last Friday. The first set of pictures display Lorraine's birthday dinner at the Melting Pot restaurant. Lorraine's birthday was actually this past Wednesday, September 24th, but we used last weekend for the big celebration since we obviously had more free time.
We have been to the Melting Pot a couple times before, and it has always proven to be a wonderful experience. The style is fondue, and we chose "The Big Night Out" on the menu. Essentially it consists of 4 courses that you dine over for hours. First comes the cheese fondue. Typically it's cheese with some sort of alcohol (beer or wine). Second you have a salad, which is pretty self-explanatory. The main entree is a large platter of a variety of meats. The picture above is a fair indication of how much food is involved. You put the meat on a long-stemmed fork, and it is then cooked in a flavorful broth.
Finally when you think you can't possibly eat anymore, dessert is brought out. The items on the dessert platter (above) are also dipped in a sweet type of fondue. We've ordered some chocolate fondues before, but this time we wanted to be a little different. Lorraine thought the Bananas Foster would be excellent, and we were not disappointed. Needless to say we didn't want to eat the next day after all this food.

For Lorraine's actual birthday on Wednesday, we met her family at Yardhouse. This is another excellent restaurant in the Valley. The menu is comprehensive, and the food is tasty. At work, they always have cake and little parties when it is someone's birthday. September is a big month at the office because of the succession of birthday parties. Since last Friday we've celebrated for our office manager, an attorney, and Lorraine.
Yesterday, our boss took us bowling in Phoenix. It was a great time to relax, and we all did pretty well. However, I think my chances of being a professional bowler are pretty slim...haha. Above you can see Lorraine tossing a bowling ball with some aggression.
Yesterday evening Lorraine and I went to the Diamondbacks game in downtown Phoenix. The Diamondbacks are the Major League Baseball team in the state. Unfortunately they didn't make it to the playoffs this year, but we still had a great time. They beat the Colorado Rockies last night, 6-4. The stadium is really beautiful, and we wanted to include some pictures. They actually have a massive mechanized roof that closes in the deep summertime. When the roof closes, the A/C unit kicks on to keep the field from turning into a broiler.

That's really everything. Today we are going to the wedding of a law school friend. We'll have more pictures to come. Y'all have a wonderful weekend!
